From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of characters who will separate from the main group to begin their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the actions of the third episode show why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise started the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his own means, invading the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the group reach areas they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them few options but to head to Timmony in search of the traitor.
